Pike goes over to Lindsay’s to apologize to Cole in person. Lindsay tells him off rudely for having a fling with Cole’s girlfriend. However, even as she taunts Pike, she can deduce that he is really in love with Jordan. Lindsay tells Pike that Cole is gone. He has joined the Navy and will be at Naval Station Great Lakes for the next eight weeks. Pike realizes that this is the job Cole had been talking about; the reason for Cole’s frequent absence was that he was enlisting for the Navy. Pike feels terrible that Cole never confided in him and leaves him a voicemail saying that he is sorry and that he loves him.
Pike admits to himself that Jordan was right: He should have just told Cole about them. Unable to reach Jordan, he goes over to The Hook to ask Cam about her whereabouts. Cam knees Pike in anger and pushes him out of the club. Later, Pike confides to Dutch that he is in love with Jordan. Dutch tells Pike that he cannot marry Jordan. If he does, Jordan will eventually resent him for cutting off her choices. Pike decides that he will not chase Jordan, as she is meant for better things, including a younger man.
