The noise of his parents fighting keeps Tyler awake. Hannah comes into his room where he sets up a sleeping bag for her on the floor. He keeps one in his closet for these occasions, though both siblings remark that this is as bad as the fighting has been in awhile.
Tyler’s life at school becomes difficult when everyone goes back to bullying him. Yoda tries to encourage him by helping him think positively; Hannah takes the opposite tack and tells Tyler it never would have worked out with Bethany anyway. When he insists she really liked him, Hannah explains it doesn’t matter because dorks and popular kids can never mix.
Bethany returns to school after a week away. Principal Hughes intercepts Tyler at the entrance and tells him he’ll be spending homeroom in the office for the time being. In English, Tyler is sure Mr. Salvatore will eviscerate him for failing to do his homework, but instead the teacher pats him on the shoulder sympathetically.
While at his locker, someone throws something at Tyler’s head. He goes to the nurse’s office and Principal Hughes pulls Tyler from his classes and puts him in study hall for the rest of the day.
